3. Professional Relationship
A counselling relationship begins only after an appointment has been confirmed and informed consent has been provided where required.
Using this website does not establish a counsellor-client relationship.

4. Eligibility
You must:

be at least 18 years of age, or

have the consent of a parent or legal guardian where counselling is provided to a minor.
Parents or guardians may be involved in counselling for children and young people where appropriate.

Appointment times are reserved exclusively for you.
Please arrive on time. Late arrival may reduce your available counselling time.

6. Fees and Payment
Current fees are published on our website or supplied before your appointment.
Payment is due before the time of the appointment unless otherwise agreed.
Accepted payment methods include:

Online transfer of funds as indicated on website

Cash at face to face appointments.
Outstanding accounts may result in future appointments being postponed until payment has been received.

7. Cancellation Policy
If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please provide at least 24 hours notice.
Where less than 24 hours notice is provided, or where you do not attend your appointment, a cancellation fee of the full fees may apply.
We understand emergencies occasionally occur and reserve discretion in exceptional circumstances.

8. Online Counselling
Where counselling is provided by Zoom/video or telephone:
You agree to:

participate from a private location

use a secure internet connection where possible
-
minimise interruptions
-
provide an emergency contact if requested.
While reasonable efforts are taken to maintain secure communications, no internet-based service can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
If technology fails, we will attempt to reconnect or arrange an alternative appointment.

9. Confidentiality
Your privacy is important to us.
Information shared during counselling is treated confidentially except where disclosure is required or permitted by law.
Examples include:

where there is a serious and imminent risk of harm to yourself or another person

where abuse or neglect must be reported under applicable legislation

where records are subpoenaed or ordered by a court

where otherwise authorised or required by law.
Your information may also be discussed in confidential professional supervision. Identifying information is minimised wherever possible.

10. Client Responsibilities
As a client you agree to:

Counselling is most effective when clients actively participate in the therapeutic process.

11. Emergencies
Our practice does not provide crisis or emergency services.
If you believe you or another person is at immediate risk, call 000 immediately or attend your nearest hospital Emergency Department.
If you require urgent mental health support outside appointment times, please contact an appropriate crisis support service.

12. Medical Care
Counselling is not medical treatment.
We do not diagnose medical conditions or prescribe medication.
You should continue consulting your GP, psychiatrist or other health professionals regarding your healthcare.
